Specifically designed to be the first course taken during junior high, it was created to give middle school students an understanding of the basic world that surrounds them each day of their lives so that they can appreciate the real-world relevance of scientific inquiry and the beauty of creation.”
Time in class will focus on making sure the concepts being studied at home are understood and explored. We will focus on discussions of the “On your own” and “Explore More” and cover as may experiments as is feasible at Co-op. Testing will be done at co-op.

We will be using the newest edition of Apologia General Science.
I find the Student notebook to be extremely helpful, and strongly recommend that you add this to work on at home. If this notebook is not used your student will require a dedicated, organized notebook for this subject. This is Apologia’s description of the notebook:
“The student notebook pairs perfectly with this process, providing easy-to-understand graphics where students fill in the blank spaces as they read. Thus, they are learning how to take information out of a text, identify key points, and critically think through what they are learning. Daily lesson plans are included in the student notebook, so students easily understand what is expected of them each day, yet there is still room for flexibility in the schedule to meet the needs of the student and the family.”Grading: Tutor will provide test scores, final percentage and class average.
Teacher Bio: This class will be taught by Kirsty Hammond, a homeschooling Mom of 15 years. She received a dual Honors degree in Speech Therapy and Audiology, and a Master’s degree focusing on Second Language Acquisition.
