Class Description: English III will use IEW’s “The Elegant Essay” in the first semester to build students’ confidence and ability in writing quality essays. The second semester will focus on reading and responding to assigned texts, a common requirement in college classes and a necessary skill in today’s world. Throughout both semesters, students will read British literature along with IEW’s “Windows to the World: An Introduction to Literary Analysis” to gain a greater understanding of an appreciation for this nation’s contributions to world literature. This class counts as both a Composition and a British Lit credit.
Curriculum: IEW’s “The Elegant Essay” - Student Book Only; “Windows to the World: An Introductions to Literary Analysis”
Homework Requirements: Students will work on outlining and writing essays using exercises in the IEW student book and instruction from the teacher, as well as completing various reading assignments. Expect 3-4 hours a week outside of class.
Duration: 28 weeks

Teacher Bio: Callie Cornelius is a homeschool graduate and current college student pursuing a degree in Classical Civilizations at UNCG. Callie benefited from learning from a wide range of curriculum during her homeschool education, including Classical Conversations and Veritas Press. She is passionate about the homeschool community and providing families with the best education. This will be her third year teaching at FE.
