Course Description:
Why should someone study Latin? Isn’t it a dead language? No! It is very much alive, and there are many benefits to having your child study Latin. Learning Latin improves a student's cognitive skills like problem-solving and critical thinking. It will help your child expand their English vocabulary and understand unfamiliar English words based on their Latin roots. Latin is precise and structured, enhancing your child's grasp of language and improving writing skills. Students who study Latin typically have an easier time learning other languages in the future. And finally, Latin provides a gateway to understanding ancient history and science terminology.
In Latina Cristiana, students will learn:
Basic Latin alphabet and pronunciation of vowel and consonant sounds
How to pronounce, spell, and translate approximately 200 Latin words
25 practical Latin expressions, 2 Latin prayers, and 3 songs
The concept of English Derivatives and complete sentences using these derivatives
A great deal of Latin grammar, including: understanding tense, number, gender, and 1st/2nd/3rd person first & second conjugation verbs in each tense, first & second noun declensions (singular and plural forms)Latina Cristiana’s gentle approach will inspire a love of Latin in your children and provide a foundation that proves helpful in many areas of study.
