Curriculum: IEW’s Classical Rhetoric through Structure and Style, Paradise Lost (Milton), Sense and Sensibility (Austen), Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass (Carroll), A Study in Scarlet (Doyle), A Christmas Carol and A Tale of Two Cities (Dickens), The Lady of Shalott (Tennyson), and The Tempest (Shakespeare)

Course Description (and Duration): Inspired by the classical Progymnasmata, the most timeless and successful rhetorical exercises in history, this course uses the tradition of the past to teach students how to write artfully and effectively. Students will learn to master narration, impersonation, formal critique, and more. Students will also read a range of classic British literature. This class is taught by Callie Cornelius, a homeschool graduate and current college student pursuing a degree in Ancient History with a minor in Literature. Callie benefited from learning from a wide range of curriculum during her homeschool education, including Classical Conversations and Veritas Press. This will be her second year teaching for Classical Conversations and her first year at FE. (30 Weeks)
