Instructor: Amelia Weesner

Email: ameliafiddle@gmail.com

Supplies Needed: 1.) a CD player that is readily accessible to the student so that he or she can easily listen to the Suzuki album every day 2.) Violin "outfit" of the correct size (outfit = violin, bow, & case). (Contact the instructor for information on sizing and where to rent or purchase one. Course Description: We will learn to play the violin! Mrs. Weesner is a trained Suzuki instructor. Suzuki is an approach which teaches music as a language. The students' ears are trained so that they can quickly learn the songs and focus on the physical practicals of how to play the violin. Our goal will be to learn as many songs as possible in Suzuki Book 1. The sheet music and CD will be provided. The students will have about 30 minutes of daily homework that will include practicing and listening to the CD. A parent will need to be the “practice partner.” The practice partner will need to attend class regularly with the student. It is fine to bring siblings and babies to the class so that you can attend. The practice partner will also need to oversee the student’s practicing at home. At the end of the year, we will have a performance with an accompanist. Amelia Weesner has been teaching violin to students aged 3 and up for 20 years. She and her husband Josh are both trained Suzuki instructors, and together they run a violin teaching studio from their home in Kernersville. She has her Bachelor and Master's degrees in Music from University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Amelia has played professionally with many symphonies, and she is currently a member of Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. This is Amelia's fourth year at Friendly Educators and her 12th year homeschooling her four children.
